How to become involved

DSAQ offers a number of volunteering opportunities whether you are after work experience, want to meet new people or are just looking to give something back to the community. To request a Volunteer Kit contact Julia Newett at the DSAQ office on 3356 6655.

Below is a list of current opportunities you may wish to be involved in:

Family Information Day Rockhampton - we are currently seeking volunteers in the Rockhampton area for the family day to be held in Rockhampton on the 14th of August. Tasks would include helping to faciliate children's activities and administration tasks.

Family Information Day Cairns - we are currently seeking volunteers in the Cairns area for the family day to be held in Cairns on the 4th of September. Tasks would include helping to faciliate children's activities and administration tasks.

Events - we are seeking people to help set up and pack down events as well as run food, drink and merchandise stands. Events include: Down Syndrome Awards & Gala Ball - 9th Oct 2010, Buddy Walk - 17th Oct 2010, World Down syndrome Day -March 21st 2011.

Administration - DSAQ sends out regular mail outs and a quarterly magazine that would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Data entry, library maintenance and kit production are also regular tasks.

Awareness Week Preparation - In the two months leading to Awareness Week we are putting together merchandise box orders, school and library awareness kits and Buddy Walk registration packs.
